AMD finally appoints a full time CEO

(Rory P. Read)
As Apples Steve Jobs retires, AMD has finally got themselves a new CEO. Rory P. Read will be replacing the semiconductor giants' last CEO, Dirk Meyer and 7 month intrim CEO Thomas Seifert effective today. Hopefully Read will be able to satisfy the boards longing for a more aggressive leader to explore new opportunities.
Read came to AMD from a COO position at Lenovo and the board are confident that he has the ability to "accelerate AMDs evolution into the worlds leading semiconductor design company".

Editors Thoughts: Its about time! It was speculated that Meyer got the sack for not paying attention to the mobile industry and letting Intel get their fingers into tablets and mobile phones. Does the appointment of a new CEO mean a change in direction for AMD? Where will they be headed now? What new opportunities will AMD be looking into? Any guesses?
