According to a number of sales personnel at Low Yat Plaza, Malaysia's largest IT lifestyle mall, their suppliers already have the unreleased Radeon HD 7970 in stock and are planning to peg the initial launch price at 2600RM, or roughly $820. This absurdly high price is due to it being "faster than the 6990" but will eventually decrease to its MSRP as more and more outlets begin providing AMD's newest flagship.

Low Yat is usually known for getting hold of new products before they are officially launched in the country and so prices like these are expected. Its business as usual.
