Confirmed on the Apple website, the world has lost a true visionary and inspiration. Apple co-founder and former CEO has passed away at the age of 56. Here's Apples official statement:

Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."

Its truly saddening to have such an innovator leave the world of technology. He was the driving force behind the iPhone and the iPad which have set the standard in mobile technological evolution. Boy does Tim Cook have some large shoes to fill...
